Mesquite Mayor John Monaco recognized November as Aviation Appreciation Month with a special proclamation for the Mesquite Metro Airport which contributes significantly to the Mesquite economy, generating $8.3 million in total economic output, 116 jobs and $3.2 million in payroll.
The aviation industry brings families together, transports essential cargo to businesses, helps to control pests that can wreak havoc on crops and performs a variety of other vital functions. Texas’ aviation history goes back more than 100 years. There are nearly 400 general aviation airports and more than 31,000 general aviation aircraft registered in the Lone Star State.
From pilots to mechanics to service industry workers in airports, thousands of Texans rely on the aviation industry for employment. General aviation and related activities generate $14.6 billion in direct, indirect and induced economic activity in the State of Texas.
